The National Postal Museum opened on July 30, 1993. It was created on November 6, 1990 in a joint agreement between the Smithsonian Institution and the United States Postal Service.

Luma Series LOfx fixtures were used to backlight transparencies of US Postage Stamps in the windows of the museum to deliver dramatic visual fascade during evening darkness. LO and LOfx fixtures were also used to provide illumination to artifacts in display cases within the museum.
